Coaching for headteachers who need space to focus on what matters most.

School leadership is complex, demanding and, at times, isolating. Many headteachers find themselves balancing strategic priorities with the operational reality of running a school, with little time to reflect or step back.

1:1 executive coaching provides a confidential space for you to pause, think clearly and strengthen your leadership. It helps you regain focus on what matters most while navigating the pressures and complexity of day-to-day school life.

Whether you are leading change, managing competing priorities, preparing for inspection, driving school improvement or simply feeling stretched, coaching helps you move forward with greater clarity.

A space to think, reflect and lead strategically

Coaching creates structured time away from operational demands so that you can think at a deeper level about your life and your leadership.

Rather than offering advice, coaching helps you slow your thinking, gain perspective and explore your own answers with support and challenge. The aim is to strengthen decision-making and support you to be more intentional in your leadership.

At Destino Coaching, we combine professional coaching expertise with lived experience of school leadership. This makes sessions with Destino coaches both reflective and grounded in the realities of education.

What 1:1 executive coaching can help with

1:1 coaching is always personalised, but common themes include:

  • strategic leadership and decision-making
  • school improvement priorities
  • leading teams, culture and relationships
  • managing change and uncertainty
  • communication and leadership influence
  • workload, boundaries and wellbeing
  • career progression
  • difficult conversations

Who executive school leadership coaching is for

Executive school leadership coaching is designed for education leaders at all stages, including:

  • headteachers
  • principals
  • executive trust leaders
  • CEOs
  • deputy and assistant headteachers
  • trust leaders

Executive school leadership coaching is particularly valuable for:

  • New headteachers – Building confidence, identity and clarity in the early stages of headship.
  • Experienced headteachers feeling stuck – Reconnecting with purpose, direction and strategic focus.
  • School leaders navigating change – working through the complexity of a restructuring process or other organisational change.
  • Leaders experiencing pressure or burnout – Creating space to reflect and develop sustainable leadership habits.
  • Leaders preparing for inspection or improvement work – Building confidence and strategic thinking skills.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is at the heart of everything we do at Destino Coaching. We understand the trust you place in us and we hold that trust with genuine care, respect and integrity.

Coaching provides a trusted and psychologically safe space where you can think openly, explore honestly and make decisions without judgement.

All coaching conversations are confidential, except in rare circumstances where there is a legal or safeguarding obligation to disclose information.

Every client receives an ICF-aligned coaching agreement before sessions begin, which clearly outlines confidentiality terms and expectations.

What to expect from a 1:1 coaching session

A coaching session is usually 60 minutes long and you can expect a focused, reflective conversation designed to help you think clearly and move forward with a particular challenge.

Together, we:

  • clarify what matters most right now
  • explore challenges, patterns and perspectives
  • identify meaningful and realistic next steps

Most leaders choose to meet every 3 to 4 weeks, allowing time between sessions to reflect and implement agreed actions.
